Public Health England (PHE) laboratory in Manchester and Tameside Hospital laboratory went Live in December 2016 with electronic Bacteriology test requests and reports. Both laboratories use instances of CSC Telepath LIMS.
After a period of testing, Tameside Hospital laboratory are able to successfully receive electronic free text MRSA reports into their LIMS, for electronic reporting direct to requestors. Using NPEx enabled PHE Manchester laboratory to maintain the integrity of the Bacteriology report for delivery to Tameside while also removing the need for paper. Electronic reporting through NPEx ensures turnaround of results to patients is much faster, enabling them to progress along their healthcare pathway without delay.
This end-to-end transaction between the two laboratories is an effective solution for Bacteriology, using free text reports, for the electronic communication of results.
